Emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical care
At Springfield Care Homes, we understand that moving into residential care is a significant life transition. That is why at Prinsted Care Home, we focus on more than just physical care. We make emotional wellbeing a priority for every resident.
A recent story from Prinsted shows just how powerful companionship can be.
One of our new residents was understandably nervous about moving into care. His biggest concern was being able to stay connected to his beloved dog, who had been by his side for many years. Once he was reassured that his dog could come and visit, he felt ready to make the move.
Sadly, not long after joining us, his much loved pet passed away. The loss deeply affected him and made his adjustment to care life more difficult.
Companionship and comfort through small, meaningful moments
Thankfully, comfort came in the form of Reggie, a friendly dog who belongs to one of our team members. Reggie visits Prinsted regularly and has developed a gentle bond with our resident. Whether they are watching TV together or simply enjoying a quiet moment, Reggie’s presence has brought warmth, comfort, and genuine joy.
It is in these small but meaningful moments that we see how much emotional support matters. Many of our residents benefit greatly from connection, whether with people, pets, or the community around them.
At Springfield Care Homes, we follow a person centred approach that honours each resident’s story, needs, and preferences. We support pet visits, encourage family time, and create daily opportunities for meaningful interaction and companionship.
